Kalpetta: The ‘Schoolammaikoru Onappudava’ (Onam Attire for the School Mother) program, an initiative to honor school cooks, was inaugurated at the district level at S.K.M.J. Higher Secondary School in Kalpetta. The event, organized by the Wayanad District Panchayat Welfare Standing Committee and in collaboration with the online educational channel Pallikkoodam TV, aims to recognize the invaluable contributions of midday meal workers.


The district-level inauguration was led by the Wayanad District Panchayat Welfare Standing Committee Chairperson, Junaid Kaippani. During the event, Kaippani presented traditional Onam attires (pudava) to the school’s kitchen staff, honoring them for their dedicated service.
The program was conceived with a broader message to impart to students: to respect those who provide food, to honor all types of labor and laborers, and to embrace and share in the joys and sorrows of fellow human beings.


The function was presided over by Principal Vivekanandan M. Other dignitaries who spoke at the event included H.M. in-charge Leena G., Santhosh Kumar, Karunakaran Nair, Nisar Pallimukku, Valsala C., Ambujakshi J., Santhosh Kumar, and M.P. Sudheesh Kumar. The event highlighted the importance of gratitude and dignity of labor within the community
