Malayali Nun Sr.Chriatina From The Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St.Vincent De Paul, Honoured by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Academic Leader Award. Sr.Chriatina was born on 3rd June 1962 in Muzhoor, Kottayam district, As the 2nd daughter of Mr. K.T. Varkey and late Mariyamma Varkey Kizhakkekozhuvanal, She Completed her primary education in St. Mary’s LP School, Muzhoor and went to St. Aloysius’ High School, Manalumkal.
She did her Pre-Degree Course in St. Alphonsa College, Pala. Later On Religious Congregational Affiliation In June 1979, Sr.Christina joined in the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St.Vincent De Paul Mananthavady Wayanad and after due preparation and formation she became a professed member of the Congregation in May 1982.She made her Perpetual Profession in 1989.
Sr.Christina was graduated from Jyothi Nivas College, Bangalore in 1985.She have A Great Educational History and Record,She holds three Post-graduate Degrees MA in English Literature from Mysore University (1992)
M.Ed from Himachal University (1997) MA in Psychology from Periyar University (2016). She also Completed her Diploma in ‘Formation and Spirituality’ from Jeevan Jyothi Centre in Hyderabad (1989),Diploma in Early Childhood Education from Highpoint University, from USA
and Diploma in School Administration from Highpoint University,USA.
Sr.Christina’s Career as a Teacher and an Administrator
was dedication to the society. Her career as an educationist has
been two dimensional, an excellent teacher and an able administrator during the last three decades in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and USA.
She began her teaching career as an English teacher at St. Vincent Public School, Alirajpet, Andra Predesh in 1986,Later on she was appointed as a lecturer in Newman’s College,Manathavady in the year
1990 and worked until 1992. She then moved to Serve as an English Teacher at St.Joseph’s TTI, Kaniyaram, Manathavady (1996-2000) and had a great time at St. Joseph’s HSS, Kallody (2000-2011),St. Catherine’s HSS Payyampally(2014-2016). Her administrative carrier started as the Principal of: Infant Jesus English Medium School, Kadampanad, Pathanamthitta(1992-1996) St. Thomas HSS, Nadavayal (2016-2018),And Finally She Is Currently working as the Administrative Head
As The Principal, De Paul Public School, Kalpetta (2018 –) She have Both International and Intercultural Experiences,
she was appointed as the administrator of De Paul Academy, High Point, NC,
in the USA in 2011,she served there for three years as teacher, administrator and as the Directress of Youth Empowerment and Youth Animator of the Diocese.
Her enthusiasm to be with the youth and her ability and unbound energy to motivate young minds, she was
appointed as the Youth Animator of the Diocese of Mananthavady in 1996.
She conducted ably many youth camps and organized many seminars and activities for the youth in the diocese of Manathavady and in other
dioceses of Kerala until 2004.
It was but consequential that she was asked to conduct youth camps and organize other activities for the youth in the diocese of Sharlotte,
in the USA from 2011 to 2014. She is Awarded Many Times. She
Received the Best Principal Award and Topper School Award from the
Progressive Curriculum Management (PCM) Publications,Kerala in
1994. She was Nominated by the CBSE Board as a Member of the Inspection Committee for CBSE Schools in 2018 and Since then she has been
deputed to inspect many CBSE Schools in Kerala and Karnataka.She Has been a well-recognized and a special invitee by the Kerala State
Educational Department as DRG and SRG (Resource Person) for
English Teachers’ Training.
She Visited many European and Asian countries and learned linguistic and cultural diversities.She Conducted School Exchange Program in St. Thomas HSS, Nadavayal,
in collaboration with Maria Ward Gymnasium, Augsburg, Germany. It was a unique event of intercultural living and sharing in the history of
Higher Secondary Schools in Kerala. She hass been excellently motivating her students wherever she worked to participate and come out in flying colours and with laurels in arts and sports, Quiz and Literary competitions and competitive examinations at the district, state and national levels.
She is Holding as an incredible record that wherever she was Principal, the schools
achieved 100% result in the Board examinations and some students scored 1200/1200 marks in higher secondary examinations,It underscores her ability to motivate and orient her students towards
excellence and passion for collaborative team spirit together with her colleagues.
Another Big achievement of her life was the success in collaborative team work in the academic year (2019-2020)
The students of De Paul Public School became the Wayanad
district toppers scoring 488/500 in XIIth CBSE Board
Examination (AISSCE), and 493/500 in Xth Board Examination (AISSE). All the students secured Distinctions, and 70% of students
scored above 90 in all the subjects, and many students scored full marks in different subjects in 10th and 12th Board Examinations.
Sr.Christina, The Principal of De Paul Public School, has been
the driving force behind the great successes in the academic and co-
curricular activities during the last two academic years. She has been a real inspiration for the whole De Paul School Family, the
students, teaching and non-teaching staff and parents. Her enthusiasm and high spirit have brought many achievements to the school.It is under her charismatic, creative, collaborative and inspirational leadership, De Paul Public School is marching forward.
Sr. Christina(Salimma Varghese) has been a very dedicated and greatly appreciated teacher at various levels in different educational
institutions for more than three decades now. She has more than a decade long impressive administrative credentials to
her credit. Her former students are spread all over India and the world rendering their service efficiently in different fields.
As Our Honour and Gratitude Sr.Christina will be Awarded As Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam Academic Leader Award 2020 From Social Research society.
Social Research Society Chairman Professor Nisam Rahman Announced that the Award Will be Handed Over to our Sister On October 15th at CS College of Engineering Trissur.
