Kozhikode: In a significant political development, a faction of the Janata Dal (Secular) led by All India General Secretary Junaid Kaippani has officially merged with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The merger ceremony took place at the “Suhardham Sangeetha Vedhi Hall” in Kozhikode, marking a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening socialist and democratic forces against communal fascism.

The event was inaugurated by RJD Kerala State President M.V. Shreyams Kumar, who handed over the party flag to Junaid Kaippani, symbolizing the formal integration of the JD(S) group into the RJD.

M.V. Shreyams Kumar emphasized the need for unity among all socialist-democratic forces, both large and small, to resist communal fascism and build a national alternative that can protect the country’s democratic fabric. He described the move by Kaippani’s group as a welcome step in that direction.

Junaid Kaippani, in his address, highlighted the importance of reinforcing the RJD under the leadership of Lalu Prasad Yadav, who he said has consistently championed democratic socialist values and the issues of common people. He also stressed that the current political scenario necessitates the reorganization of socialist forces and termed the merger not as a political absorption, but a “reunion of like-minded socialist companions.”

The function was attended and addressed by RJD Kozhikode District President M.K. Bhaskaran, along with Roy Manaykkaparambil, Biju Sevis, Moyinkutty, Adv. Jamaluddin P.K., Sreekala K.S., and Jabir V.K., among others.
