New Delhi: Fuel prices in the country have gone up as usual today. Petrol and diesel prices went up at midnight. Petrol price was hiked by 87 paise per liter and diesel by 84 paise per liter. Fuel prices have been rising in the country for the past few days. Petrol price was hiked by 42 paise per liter yesterday. Diesel prices were hiked by 42 paise per liter yesterday. After a gap of 137 days, prices have continued to rise. From March 21 onwards, prices have gone up every day except for one day in a row. In the meanwhile, diesel price has been increased by Rs 9 and a half. In Thiruvananthapuram, the price of a liter of petrol is going up after Rs 115. Diesel prices have also gone up to Rs 102 per liter. In Kochi, petrol will cost above Rs 114 and diesel above Rs 100 with today’s hike. The situation is similar in Kozhikode. Fuel prices have not been increased for the last four months following the elections in five states. A week after the results were announced, there were reports that fuel prices would rise sharply, but a week later, oil companies started raising prices again. Fuel prices are expected to rise in the coming days.
