Thiruvananthapuram – Junaid Kaippani, the Chairman of the Welfare Standing Committee of Wayanad District Panchayat, has been honoured with the Kerala Panchayat Smrithirekha Golden Medal, awarded for the Best District Panchayat Standing Committee Chairman in the state. The award is instituted by the Kerala Panchayat News Channel and will be presented during its upcoming awards ceremony.
The award includes a gold medal, a memento, and a certificate of recognition. Junaid Kaippani was selected based on the evaluation of his exemplary, innovative, and visionary initiatives implemented under his leadership.
The Kerala Panchayat News Channel documents and broadcasts updates, announcements, and developments from the 941 Grama Panchayats, 152 Block Panchayats, 14 District Panchayats, as well as urban local bodies across the state. The Smrithirekha Golden Award is presented once every five years to outstanding public representatives in a grand ceremony.

He holds responsibilities at district, state, and national levels in numerous social, cultural, educational, and charitable organisations.
Born in Vellamunda, Wayanad district, to Mammootty Kaippani and Subaida, Junaid is married to Jesna Junaid and has three children – Aadil Jihaan, Jes Fathima, and Ais Hind. He completed his schooling at Vellamunda AUP School, GMHS Vellamunda, and St. Joseph’s HSS Kallody. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Calicut, an M.Com from Annamalai University, a B.Ed in Commerce from the University of Kerala, and a postgraduate degree in Counselling and Psychology.
An accomplished author, Junaid Kaippani has written seven books on various subjects. His notable work “Vikendreetrasaamoohya Chinthayum Prayogavum” (Decentralised Planning: Thought and Practice) presents an in-depth grassroots study on decentralisation and development, receiving wide attention in academic circles.
He is also the founder and chairman of Let’s School of Public Speaking, established in 2014, which trains individuals in public speaking across Kerala and beyond.
