Kolkata Knight Riders beat defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kolkata beat Chennai by six wickets. After losing the toss and opting to bat, Chennai scored 131 for five in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Kolkata won the toss and elected to bat with nine balls to spare. With this, Kolkata made amends for their defeat to Chennai in last season’s final and the new star line-up.
