Idukki: The number of child marriages has increased in the plantation areas of Idukki. Seven marriages were found in Nedunkandam and Udumbanchola police station boundaries alone. To prevent this, the Intelligence ADGP directed the District Child Protection Unit to submit a detailed report.
During the lockdown, the State Special Branch and Childline had reported an increase in child marriages in the area from Nedunkandam to Poopara in Idukki. Following this, the Intelligence ADGP directed to conduct a detailed investigation. Following this investigation, the report submitted by DYSP R. Santhosh Kumar contains serious findings.
